Moving On

Rumination:

Do you write with your heart or with your head or a combination of both?

I tend to write from the heart.

Opinion pieces tend to be distancing I find and ring false and judgmental as the personal experience is absent.

And passion. Passion is absent from so many lives, isn't it? Being in this lovely village which is my complex I am puzzled as to why it is lacking in so many lives. Enthusiasm. Delight. Joy. Self-deprecation. We need lots more of these. How to stoke those internal fires?

Home:

My long awaited custom chair was finally delivered today. I had to send the incorrect one back 2 months ago as it rocked. This one is perfect. I test drove it like a child after the delivery men left. Now I'm finally ready to play with my space.

A perfect bathroom mirror I found. I'd been looking forever.

Travel:

5 more sleeps till I leave, but it's a busy 5 days, jammed with meetings and a paying tax project which finances part of my travel expenses.

My Cape Breton friend has planned a trip on our second day together to her local wharf to await the lobster boats coming in and then gorging ourselves silly in the wharf cafe on fresh lobster. I will photo this feast.

Travelling by car enables me to pack quite carelessly which I love.

Crafts:

"Not your Granny's dishcloth"

I made this dishcloth and I couldn't believe the response on FB. I've made quite a few more as so many want to buy them.

  2. I write with my heart. My passion tempered by my head. If I wrote down everything I think I'd be made to bleed.

The chair looks enviable. The mirror - well, you know what mirrors do. They mirror you.

Your WTF granny cloth most adorable. Could you please make mine yellow?

Like you, I like travelling by car best. You can pack everything, short of the kitchen sink.

    Lobster greetings,
    U

  4. A New York friend of mine sent me a couple of hand knitted dishcloths which were fabulous but are long gone. I have never heard of anyone making dishcloths here. It seems to be all bigger projects.
The trip sounds good, I hope you really enjoy it!

The handknitted dcloths are the best, as one old woman used to say: not matter how damp they never, ever smell. True dat :)

  5. I have lots of white cotton, meant to make some french cafe curtains but looking at you dish cloths, maybe I will make some as well, after having dyed the cotton.
As for how we write, perhaps I am too impersonal, perhaps it is a need to push people away, though my partner always says he gets to know what I am thinking when he reads my blog.

    1. I think it shows when we write from the heart, Thelma, I believe that. Writing from a distance is always evident to me.

So many are afraid to let their feelings show :)

    1. It's a Lazy-Boy Ramana. I ordered it without rockers as I hate rocking in a chair now, tho I did a lot when my babies were small.

I must say it is fabulously comfortable and sits close to the wall. I've never had a chair like it. Very well constructed.

  8. Heart mostly, I guess. I feel I have a definite passion for so much of life - for relationships, for travel, for food, for nature. I wouldn't want it any other way.

And lobster is probably my single favorite food. Enjoy!

    1. Thank you Kim. I'm thinking of a hot pink to offset the more earthy and woodsy colours of the furnishings.

I constantly exchange handwritten cards and wee letters. Some blogmates are similar. Send me your snail via my gmail and I will send you one of my cards.

  12. Head or heart is a good question. For me it often depends on what I'm writing. Poems are more heart, supported by the head; essay-type stuff is more head, supported by the heart.
    The sweary dishcloth is fantastic.
