An artist en plein air on the beach yesterday. Click to embiggen. Note his red beret.
I popped off the pic to the family on whatsapp later on in the day and a picture of the Sturgeon Moon over the sea in Kerry, Ireland, came back. Taken by my sister.
She is all alone down there, consuming books and looking at the ocean. We agreed it was so healing and centering. It's our goto.
I was inordinately pleased at the synchronicity.
And PS did you know that a fairly new profession is "climate therapist?" People are so stressed out by the non-stop climate disasters.
My therapist is the ocean.
I am so glad that you were able to get your fix. That shot of the moon that your sister took is stunning.
ReplyDeleteMany of us have gotos, at least I hope we all do, EC. I know yours is your garden. It's good to have a place to be restored and rejuvenated, even for a little while.

I worry about kids growing up being overloaded by environmental issues as if the world is going to end. We won't tell them that such a scenario could well happen. They need to learn about the environment but not be panicked. I can imagine some may well need professional help to cope.
ReplyDeleteBoth are excellent photos.
The artist is so small. How true.
ReplyDeleteI didn't want to intrude on him Joanne, but if you embiggen you can see him better.

My go-to is either a country walk or some gardening. Both are relaxing and undemanding. As for climate therapists, I read that young people in particular are suffering climate anxiety because their whole life could potentially be jeopardised.
ReplyDeleteYes, a forshortened future for sure. In my time it was nuclear war and the prediction of Fatima as in the end of the world is nigh.
DeleteBut catastrophe looms closer every year now.

There is something uniquely appealing about seeing an artist outdoors painting. It’s something I rarely see any more, so when I came across a chap painting alongside the a Grand River, it was especially pleasing. I resisted the temptation to approach closely, figuring he would not welcome the distraction.
ReplyDeleteYes this artist was completely engaged in what he was doing and I watched as her mother dragged a little girl away before she could distract him.
DeleteIt's so lovely to see an artist.

You sound happy Mary.
ReplyDeleteI commented on your last post then realised it was your second last one and you probably won't read it.
It was very thought provoking.
I will go back and read YS, and thanks as always for commenting. I'm through another bad patch of health challenges and things are looking a lot brighter!

The photo of the moon looks like a painting, just so romantic :)
ReplyDeleteI'm trying to figure out my go to spot. I obviously don't use a spirit soothing spot often enough if I don't know what itis. The beach? the bush? Time with a friend? or maybe all three
Kylie, I believe a go to spot should be one in which we are alone in a different environment from home? I could be wrong but it certainly is an alone escape valve for me.
