You'd have to be mad not to understand that we are on the brink of another world war. There are a bunch of megalomaniacs in the US (and elsewhere) driving these forces of world domination. Trump has been the useful idiot. All of this feeds into his narcissistic sociopathic personality. He has no empathy or compassion; he is the tool, the face. Some report he gets all his information and biases from Fox News (or as I like to call it Faux Nooz). And to add to his disdain, he wore a cheap Trump baseball hat to the reception of the dead military returning to the US a couple of days ago. He promises there will be loads more. But *shrug* that's the cost of war, ya know. But that's not a war, he contradicts himself.
Iran is not going to take this endless provocation and deaths (now at least 30,000, including countless children). They have better military equipment than the US and can hold out far, far longer.
Meanwhile, the world pays for this folly, with skyrocketing energy costs affecting everything, food, travel, and survival.
Today's headlines cover men getting cheap hair transplants in Turkey and Americans overloading therapists' offices for sessions dealing with Trump anxiety.
Canada is under threat too, and we are very aware of it. Every mouthful of venom he spurts brings us closer.
Cuba is next on his menu. Followed by possibly Ecuador. Then Canada.
Here's the full list:
- Greenland: Frequently mentioned for acquisition due to its natural resources and strategic location.
- Canada: Cited as a target for absorption as the "51st state" through economic pressure.
- Venezuela: Following proposed invasion, the administration claimed it would "run" the country.
- Mexico: Mentioned in the context of territorial acquisition in the Western Hemisphere.
- Panama: Specifically, control of the Panama Canal Zone.
- Gaza Strip: Referred to as "property" for potential redevelopment.
We are in dark, unknown territory in these nuclear times. Netanyahu and Trump are busy keeping themselves out of jail on criminal and war crime charges. They don't care who gets in the way as the bodies mount to horrifying levels.
We can't shut our eyes to it. Many in Canada are buying guns for the first time. Daughter is a good shot. I was not bad in my time. But neither of us ever felt the need to own a gun.
Overreacting you might say? Realistic, I'd respond.
Maybe now is the time. In all my born days, I never thought I'd be writing about defending Canada. The most polite nation on the face of this earth. Except when we're threatened.
Elbows Up!
No kidding...you've hit the nail on the head!
ReplyDeleteIt's truly awful, e. A true Reign of Terror has begun.

I feel so helpless. We keep thinking that sane people in the legislature will prevail, but it looks like all we have are people, like all of my representatives, who fawn all over him. My grandson deploys on Wednesday--no idea where he will end up. I feel sick.
ReplyDeleteOh Sheila I am so very sorry. You must be out of your mind with worry. Light and love to him in this total debacle, which reminds me so much of Vietnam. I protested then outside the US embassy. Americans are strutting their stuff in Minnesota. They are a beacon for the world. More protests WILL happen. People Power.

Yes, fasten our seat belts. Humans weren't designed for this world. That's what happens when a narcissist president develops prefrontal dementia.
ReplyDeleteAnd all are afraid of him and his threats and have abandoned their oaths. It's mind boggling.

Or as the YouTuber titles his channel, Guard the Leaf. The world and especially Canada, seems to making a rather large dent in the US economy.
ReplyDeleteI do love how our PM spoke in your government and had gone to Oxford with some on your parliament. Our countries are allied on Arctic defence and in trade.

Madness indeed. Here on the news I heard we are already restricting petrol (fuel/gasoline) to so many litres per car, which once again puts our road trip to visit our older sister on hold. Between here and there is a very long drive with limited petrol stations and before that Brother has to fly to Adelaide from Perth WA, and will the planes be flying?
ReplyDeleteI admit to be very scared about the future and I blame Trump and those who pull the orange puppet's strings.
It's going to affect all of us and he's a psychopath as we all know along with with being a narcissist and utterly without humanity. We are all scared. Iran is a bloodbathe BUT I also hear on alternative news that so is Israel, not being reported. Much of it isn't.

Canada stay strong! You are our last hope!
ReplyDeleteWe are doing our best and I have great hopes for a general strike in the US and all those great women you have are yelling from the ramparts. Kamala was right on every single thing he would do. But it's all happening far too fast, every single day which is deliberate.

"Many in Canada are buying guns for the first time. But neither of us ever felt the need to own a gun". Thank goodness.
ReplyDeleteIn Australia the National Firearms Agreement (1996) banned semi-automatic rifles and shotguns, introduced universal licensing, registration, a long waiting period, and included a massive government-funded buyback.
I know criminals have smuggled guns into Australia since then, but apparently criminals use machetes now :(
It's a great system but in light of the threats from our former ally down south of us, we need to rethink our gun laws here. Hunting rifles won't get us very far.

And he was elected by the American people, eyes wide open, for two terms, under a system they touted to the world as the very paradigm of democracy that all should emulate. If anyone thinks the midterm elections are going to take place in a fair and unbiased manner they are delusional.
ReplyDeleteI so agree David. He had 2 reasons for this war, Epstein and the election. the shock to me are absolutely no guardrails on him.

It appalls me that this man was freely elected by the voters in my country when they had the opportunity to vote for a fully qualified woman who would not have been a pariah on the world stage. Misogyny played its part and here we are. The next three years look pretty bleak to me.

Well he's not happy with the UK's decision not to join in his war. Thank goodness our PM had the guts to say no to his requests to go to war with him. That man Trump is mad in my view!!
ReplyDeleteHe's a demented criminal rapist pedophile corrupt monster with absolutely zero redeeming qualities. I worry most about the voters who put him there though many are regretting it.
