Returning Home

Today was one of those days of laundry and catching up with my St. John's Life. And exhaustion.

I've taken on two long road trips this past summer and maybe that wasn't so wise of me. A lot of driving.

However, the other side of me thinks this is a good thing, to still be semi-active, not as much as I'd like, of course, but savouring the sweetness of life. Particularly beautiful Newfoundland. I never tire of the scenery and here are a few samples:
The Architecture of Trinity

I spotted this man painting his extraordinary shed, more delicious architecture, again in Trinity, I was desperately trying to get that can of paint on the ground in the picture:

We stayed in Eastport also, the beach was breathtaking, my friend is a speck in the distance in this picture and she's going to enlarge it and put it on her bedroom wall.

And finally, Salvage. An artist's paradise.

The great news is that I am newly inspired, freshly minted in fact, with many wonderful events and projects about to unfold. More on that later.

Once I catch my breath.

  1. Your exhaustion works its way to your finger tips. Do rest and recuperate and start on your new series of blog posts!

  2. The beach at Eastport is fabulous. So is that landscape at Salvage (I wonder where that name came from?). I see the walk from Salvage to Eastport has been described as "the most beautiful in the world." I'm impressed that you still have the energy for long road trips. I prefer a more relaxing mode of transport these days.

    1. I don't know about the energy Nick, certainly the spirit is willing but there ever weakening flesh needs lots of recovery time!

I believe a lot of shipwreck debris floated into Salvage, the island of Newfoundland had thousands of shipwrecks on the wild rocky coast.

  4. I do know what you mean by the exhaustion of travel! Or almost any kind of prolonged activity! It seems it takes almost as long to recover as the adventure itself. But giving up adventure because it is tiring is just not an answer. Making time for recovery is. Have a good recovery, your adventure was surely worth it! Those are marvellous photos to show for it.

    1. Yes it was worth it Annie, and being a well travelled woman yourself you understand it. I'm hoping to block off some time next week to tune out for a while.

  5. Thank you for sharing your lovely photographs, WWW! Everything looks so natural -"organic", different from the commercialised tat one finds in many US tourist areas.

Rest up well, then get ready for the next adventure! :)

  9. Welcome home! Wonderful photos. I'm finding it too easy to pass up adventures these days, am hoping this is just temporary. Seems whevever I've been away for any length of time the past couple years my 91 year old mama has a mishap, broken hip 3 years ago and a second in May. She's recovered well and is still quite independent. I admire her. Anyway, I've taken to mostly staying close to home for this phase of life but sometimes miss the sense of freedom. Choices; we do what we need to do, right? In the meantime, I travel through blogs. Thank you! Kim in PA

    1. Thank you Kim, I'm catching up but will get a card to you soon. If I were lucky to have had my mother live I would do what you're doing. I miss her every day of my life as she died so young but not before she passed me on some wisdom and great advice.

That small inner voice is worth listening to.
