I look at the headlines today and heave a huge sigh, of despair, of hopelessness. Is anyone paying attention to (along with everything else) our end of days climate change? Anyone with power? And yes I'm aware there's nothing individuals can do. And I keep thinking about the film "Don't Look Up" and thinking how prescient it is as we roll our way to species extinction.

ReplyDeleteTake care, be well, and remember consuming news is bad for your health. (I'm not saying to ignore reality; I'm saying don't stew in things over which you have no control. And remember, we're at peace; we live in a relatively free, prosperous and democratic society; and your neighbors are probably very nice people.)
ReplyDeleteCan you become allergic to headlines? I don't know what part of the human body our dear leaders use for thinking, but I'm afraid it's not the part between their ears. Our headlines look approximately the same.
ReplyDeleteOh yeah, and don’t forget the ‘Doomsday Glacier’: https://www.theguardian.com/world/2021/dec/18/scientists-watch-giant-doomsday-glacier-in-antarctica-with-concern. Fun times. Happy New Year.
ReplyDeleteIt really is a wonder the human race has lasted as long as it has.
ReplyDeleteFortunately/Unfortunately most of those headlines will have no effect on the majority of our lives.
ReplyDeleteTom said it all….
Where are the good, happy headlines? Surely there must be SOME good news somewhere?
ReplyDeleteThe only reason I get newspapers is for their crossword puzzles.
ReplyDeleteSo sad but what can we do?
ReplyDeleteAny idea why my name and date are always pale grey while everyone else is blue?
ReplyDeleteThere is a never-ending list of world-tragedies. With the technology we have today we are more aware of them than previous generations, I think, but I think many were present then, too. Certainly we're reminded that some of these problems could easily be us. For our own well-being we must not dwell on them, but determine what we may or may not be able to do to impact change for the better but recognize and respect our limitations. Pretending or ignoring these matters don't exist is not an answer.
