A First!
As some of my readers know, I do not lay me down and stay quiet. I write. I protest. I rant and roar sometimes. And I did that recently to my local MHA about the abysmal treatment of us outporters when it comes to Da Interwebz. I did not hear back from him.
Well guess what? This morning who arrives at my door with hugs and kisses but said MHA outlining the latest news in this game of "soon" and "soon" for reliable internet access. $8million has been allocated for full high speed service for us outporters and bids are being tendered by providers as we spoke. Well pol-promises I view with more than a jaundiced eye, let me tell you.
But the fact that he drove out here and talked to me, hell, I don't know a single soul on planet earth that this has happened to. Involved government? Well, I never.
And I don't gobsmack too easily.

I just checked the calendar and it is not April 1st, so well done you!
ReplyDeleteYou keep that fire going until all is in place and working full steam.
I never either...good luck :)
ReplyDeleteThe desert sands have frozen and the camels are skating home. Who'da thunk?
ReplyDeleteVery impressive that he actually drove out to see you. It seldom happens in Belfast, even if the local politician lives two streets away. If he means what he says, hopefully your internet headaches are coming to an end....
ReplyDeleteHmmmm - you must've cast a spell on him - your letter-writing contained a wee bit of white magic, WWW! He must've felt your wrath encircling him as he read. ;-)
ReplyDeleteCongratulations! And I hope they follow through in a timely fashion.

See what happens when you got a blog thats read by millions around the world and in St. Yawns? You got power there WWW - more power than you realize. Now, time to get the roads paved, the fire protection service upgraded and some nice bones for Ansa to chew on! :-)
ReplyDeletePS: I think the problem with mine comments was that the captcha thingy - where you put in the mixed up word - was causing some problems - at least that's what it seemed to suggest in "The Real Blogger Status" blog you can find in my blog list. Makes for interesting reading sometimes.
That is rather the gobsmacking sort of news! Wow! Hope the Internet improves for you, as promised! :)
ReplyDeleteWWW, found an article about Churchill and the black dog that I thought you would find of interest: http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/magazine-15033046
ReplyDeleteCheers,

Isn't it amazing, it absolutely pays to rave and rant. I've found it time and times again. It's the quiet little mice who never utter who get trodden on. Never us big bullies!
ReplyDeletewell, if you're going to be gobsmacked, let's hope it bears fruit! Love the cartoon accompanying this post - and love the fact that a really personal response resulted from your rant.
ReplyDeleteGM:
ReplyDeleteI've now changed my signature at the bottom of all my outgoing emails to include the news about untimely responses being the result of my being treated as a second class citizen and not worthy of reliable internet service. And I send out a lot of business emails.
