Swimming in the Sea of Me

~~Photo of sunset, from my front deck, a couple of nights ago.

~~
Facts about me:

Even if I lived in just one room, I could not live without a cleaning person. I can make an instant slum of any room, anywhere, in about 2 minutes. I scatter into peripheral bits: books, pots, hair bling, PJs, favourite pillow, shoes, towels, journal, meditation assists, clothes sorting, laptop, cords, printer, coffee mug. You get the picture.

I still get totally insecure around a male who takes an interest in me.

I would be considered a 'best friend' by at least four men and five women.

I've never been bored in my life.

I could talk the hind leg off a donkey.
BUT
I am a very good listener.

I am a foodie who can't keep cookies, candies, sweets, chocolate, biscuits, icecream, cakes or pastries in the house as I don't have an OFF switch. Sorry, drop-in guests.

I was a two pack (50) a day smoker and quit cold turkey over 23 years ago. I would have a carton in my car, in my office and in my house. I never ran out of ciggies.

I am a news junkie.

I take on too many things at once. See NOW.

I am one of those rare birds who knows she is happiest living alone. Well, okay, with Ansa.

I would be considered an eccentric oddball by my siblings.

Best description of me would be a "Gregarious Loner".

  1. Hmmmm - interesting, WWW. I can (more or less)state the opposite about myself on every point you make - and your natal sun is in Leo, mine in Aquarius - signs opposite each other in the zodiac. ;-)

  2. That is very interesting indeed, T. My mother was an Aquarius and she would be VERY like you.
One of my good friends is a fellow Leo (male) and he is very like me, enough to make us quite incompatible as partners but very good friends.
I know a lot scoff at Astrostuff but I believe there is enough in it to make us all pause.

  3. I'm the introvert who feels she must entertain everyone in the room, which wears me out.

  4. My cleaning lady has slowed up in recent years. Wait now.... that cleaning lady is me! :(

  5. I rather wish I was able to talk the hind leg off a donkey instead of being forever slightly tongue-tied in company and wondering what the hell to say next.

I'm more of a potentially gregarious loner who finds an awful lot of possible friends either too boring or too negative to cultivate. Truly compatible individuals are like gold dust.

And that probably makes me sound like an eccentric oddball as well....

  6. i actually can relate to most of it, except i can't write worth a bean :)
Not sure about the astrology stuff, but one weird thing in my life has been that my closest female relationships have been with Leo's . I'm Pisces with Leo rising, who knows maybe that has something to do with it .The picture is gorgeous BTW

  7. I'm more tongue tied than you are and don't quite make such a mess of a room when I'm in it. That's why I probably need a beer or two to loosen me up a bit.I'm a bit uptight as a rule. Too self contained, whereas, as you said, you are more gregarious.

  8. So, you’re the long-lost sister they told me about who was stolen away by pirates! And here I thought it was Whoopi Goldberg!

Boredom is not part of my vocabulary. I’m personally acquainted with at least six of those donkeys with NO hind legs – three of which came to me with three legs. I listen very well, especially to the inner voice that says “oh, one or two more brownies won’t hurt”. I was up to three packs a day when I quit cold turkey on Easter Sunday, 1986; being obsessed with news is what got me through the withdrawal pains. My scheduler is always over-full but knowing that I am my own best totally eccentric company helps me through that. Working in show business for a number of years removed most of my gregariousness but I can still fake it with the best of them! :-) And, oh yeah, my longest serving house-keeper was with me for 13-years. She was the one who made my survival possible.

    DNA sampling anyone?

  10. Oh Marcia, I feel the stress all the way over here! I worked hard at changing that trait in myself and think I am successful (mainly!).

Whilst I admire people who 'do' for themselves, whether for economic or other reasons, I don't know what would happen if I didn't set aside the money for my cleaning lady. I would do without really. Barefoot.

  12. Nick:
I think what keeps me afloat is my insatiable interest in others' lives, what makes them tick. I can't say I find them boring at all whereas others might. Even the whiners. I imagine how impoverished their lives must be, how truly needy they are. And I just give them some broadcast time, not too much or I'd lose my mind.

I am still quite introverted in some ways as in I won't go to a dinner dance alone or a dance for that matter. I'm not one of those people who charges into a room in a sweeping cape talking nine to the dozen sprinkling 'dahlings' at everyone.
Nothing could be further from the truth. I am better in smaller bites.

  18. I can relate to you. In many respects, I am like you with one exception. I am not a loner but I do like my solitude, that is whenever I can get it.

Some of you are having trouble, I've removed captcha and verification so we'll see how that goes. My apologies. Blogger is putting up far too many roadblocks. Thanks for the emails alerting me.
