Sunday Selections

This week, things all homey.

Joining others in this Sunday Selection mix of photo-dumps.

Elephant's Child

From The Highrise

Drifting through Life

It took me days to put up and decorate my tree but I'm so proud of the finished result.

Went shopping in my favourite thrift stores for 3 pairs of desperately needed PJ bottoms (I always wear men's coz POCKETS). The rest of the world was at malls as it was Black Friday, hardly anyone in the thrift. It's vast, I'm only showing about 1/3 of it. Full of treasures.

Some of my favourite cheeses, I'm a divil for the fancy cheeses.

Two connected things on a theme which I love

A friend dropped by with this gorgeous Christmas cactus and 2 pots of her homemade jam.

And lastly, Grandgirl, who lives in Paris, gifts me with things tres francais. A set of these napkins with French herbs printed on them.

  1. A truly lovely selection.
Pockets are a feminist issue. Either women's clothing doesn't have them or they are substandard. The trousers I am currently wearing have pockets but they are too shallow to hold my phone. A tissue is about their limit.
And I love those sayings. I came from stardust and to stardust I will return.

    1. Totally feminist issues, I remember writing about lack of pockets in the seventies FFS. And you're right on the trousers. When I sewed I would insert them in pants or skirts. I was pleased recently to see pics of wedding dresses with POCKETS. a sea change but not enough by any means.
Sorry for your temporary jail sentence 😒

  2. Your Sunday Selections have made my day, thank you. Even after all your recent health experience you've bounded back with enthusiasm and good will towards life and all that it contains. Love your Christmas tree, I may do the very same since gave up setting up a tree several years ago. Whimsical and charming, thanks for the idea.

    1. Thank you Marge. I am only now feeling a bit uppity again after 8 weeks of misery with nausea and exhaustion. It's good to feel this way. I am blessed with people who care about me who continually surprise me with little acts of kindness.

  3. I prefer minimalist Christmas trees rather than your gaudy overdecorated work of art. My sister in law buys men's underwear as they are much cheaper than women's apparently. I've never checked.

    1. All things male are cheaper Andrew, shirts, nightwear, t-shirts, etc. Plus they're better made and have POCKETS. It's not called the Pink Tax for nothing.

  4. LOVE the peg tree! The french napkins are also lovely, are they cloth or paper? I hope they are cloth so you'll have them forever.
Cave Aged Cheddar from the Wookey Hole sounds interesting.

    1. The napkins are a gorgeous cotton, washed a few times now and look like new. Wookey Hole is amazing cheese.

    1. For sure CM, such a rip off on pants too and shirts. Enraging, cost more with less substance (and size)

  9. HaHaHa! Your tree gave me a chuckle this morning. Love it. Good to see you're back on your feet. And I'll keep men's clothing with pockets in mind. I buy most of my clothes at the local secondhand store.

    1. Exactly. Me too, firm believer in recycling and I find most men's PJ bottoms are unworn as men throw them away if the pattern is not macho enough, lol. $10.50 for 3 gorgeous pairs.

  10. If there is one immutable law in this world, a truth not subject to question, not open for dispute, never to be doubted by anyone of sound mind, it is that cheese is essential to one's health and well being. The high price of some cheeses is mere illusion; it is an investment in health and happiness. Pass the Stilton, please.

    1. Ah a fellow turophile! Love Stilton, also a great one out of Britain too - Cathedral Extra Mature. Also love Gorgonzola and some French ones. I loved Alex cheese shops in Toronto and out here Coleman's who have great selection along with sample baskets filled with testers for $5 and under.

  11. Not only pockets, I tried sleeping in one of those sleeping thingies for ladies, and ended up with everything in a huge bundle under my arms, and cold legs, cold stomach and buttocks. Never again. And women's PJs are lacy and thin - brrr! Only good for hot summer nigths. And all clothes really, not pnly PJs; try to find underwear without scratchy frills or lace, and outer layers with long enough arms and all cotton. I always wear men's clothes. They are so much more practical and no nonsense ... only exceptions are swimsuits and underpants (I found ONE cotton, no lace brand!)

    1. PS, your tree cracked me up, did you clean the needles individually to make this last for days? Good to see you home and about again!

    2. I despised those nighties Charlotte, up around the armpits indeed. In my time when engaged, I was presented with loads and loads of frilly lingeries by all my girlies. Dear God on a hammock, I didn't know what to do with any of it. I'm a plain kind of Hanes panties type, no lace, nor hurtful elastic leaving marks. And men's clothes last forever along with their well made shoes.

The napkins and the cactus are so pretty and I love a good bit of cheese, too.
