Dorian in its last gasps.

I thought you might like these pics on Sunday Smatterings today. They were both taken by Cliff Doran who is a lightkeeper around these parts and I'm telling you, his pics are something to behold. Wild life, sunsets, his lighthouse, you name it. Stunning.

The first one is in St. Shott's, you get the sense of the power of the Atlantic, whipped up by Dorian. I do wonder about all those shipwrecks underneath those churning combers not allowed to rest yet again.

The second one is where Daughter lives. She's high on a hill overlooking the sea there and we had spoken today about the fierceness of the ocean at her feet and those huge waves. This spot is where all the humpbacks come in - they left only a few weeks ago and she spotted a minke only a couple of days ago.

  1. STUNNING photographs.
The ocean is an incredibly powerful force, and these photographs bring that home.
I hope Dorian subsides quickly now. Really quickly.

    1. It did, we basically did get the tail end of it though our West coast took a bit of a battering.

    1. Yes our city was spared and there was some damage done elsewhere but nothing like our neighbours to the south of us.

  3. Beautiful shots. I love watching a raging ocean storm, although I do regret any damage caused to people in the path of any storm.

    1. Me too, but to be safe from it is a comfort. On the inside looking out so to speak.

    1. It really brings home how really tiny we all are in the overall scheme of things.

    1. Mother Nature is some force, she can annihilate us all and who's to blame her?

  6. I was hoping that Dorian would give you a miss, so pleased that it didn't do you and yours any harm - by the sound and look of it it was a bit too close for comfort (via that great photograph!)

PS - Thank you so much for the beautiful card/poem I received late last week. It has pride of place on top of my bookcase, near my computer, it gives me a warm feeling when I gaze at it- {{hug}}. I posted a card, snail-mail, to you WWW - I hope it arrives safely and that Dorian doesn't claim it and chew it up. :)

I do hope your health is on the mend and yes we survived the tail end of Dorian quite well.

  7. That is way more power than I could deal with, especially from a neighbor.
