Saturday/Sunday Selections.

I'm joining with Elephant's ChildRiver and others for Sunday Selections even though it's only /Saturday (early) here but yay, Australian time!

No theme just eclectic.

My blackboard in my office/bedroom, I usually put one word on there to keep me going for the week. As an elder I believe it is important not to go all geezerish and start off any sentence with "in my time" or "let me tell you that wasn't"...choose topic. So forward march.

One of my brothers gave me this for my birthday, it's married, via Bluetooth, to my phone and hence to my favourite radio stations (one particular fave is out of Ireland that plays all classical all the time) and the sound is truly superb. it's been playing solidly for a couple of months now and I havent had to recharge it.

I picked this commercial style shredder up for $15 from a sketchy looking fellah on the side of the road who sold it on Marketplace, used. I have a ton of files from my tax business to shred. it takes everything in its savage maw, staples included (important). I am thrilled with it. Already two full blue bags for recycling. Effortless. Better shredder than the one I left behind in my office in my former house.

A friend takes these incredible photos of birds. One of the newest arrivals to Newfoundland (climate change) happens to be the saw-whet owl (owl is my spirit animal) and he took this exquisite closeup last week. He says there are many of them here. Those eyes, yeah?

And finally, slightly vulgar, but many of you will snort as I did when this was posted.

  1. That is one fine looking music box! The owl is beautiful. My spirit animal is a turtle. I like your "forward" momentum blackboard, mine would likely say "just get it done, stop dithering!"
I'm very glad I'd swallowed my mouthful of water before I saw that last meme.
    Thank you for joining us.

    1. I will mark Sunday selections on my agenda, River, it will encourage me to take more photographs, I have missed taking them. Sorry about blogger jail. All your comments have been released today.

  2. Thank you so much for joining us. Forward is an excellent word, though sometimes I will settle for marking time.
I adore owls. Too many of them would be barely enough.
That image had me snorting (and would explain quite a lot of behaviour over the years).

    1. Released from blogger jail. So many released today. It really pisses me off. Long time commenters in jail makes absolutely no sense to me. I will monitor more closely.

  3. Your selections gave me a chuckle. I love the owl.

  4. I really enjoyed this post. (saying that might send me to the spam folder)
Is a blackboard duster the equivalent of the delete button? Perhaps not as what is wiped out on a blackboard has gone for ever.
It's amazing that your music device can go for so long without charge.
"sketchy looking fellah" Hmm, do tell.
We all love owls, until they pick up our tiny dog and take it to the skies.
I don't think I want to listen to the album Pumping my organ for Jesus. Religion and some things don't mix, in spite me at times crying out, Oh Jesus, or Oh My God.

    1. What struck me on the album cover: in spite of all their pumping for the Big Fellah in the sky they look utterly wretched so either (a) they're exhausted from all the pumping or (b) the pumper's performance is way below par.

  5. I love that you're focussing on the word "forward". There's nowhere else to go so we might as well resolve to go forward in good spirit.
    The owl is gorgeous.
Pumping an organ for Jesus......I have no words :)

    1. I do hope the Big Fellah is pleased tho. And yes, forward we go and sometimes, yeah, it's hard. I need the reminder.

  6. My mum was very keen on shredding everything remotely useful to fraudsters, but I've never bothered with shredding. So far I've never run into any trouble. And yes, it's tempting to us oldies to sink back into the past instead of moving forward.

    1. I think you'd appreciate my shredding the copies of your old tax returns, Nick! The paperwork sure piles up also for corporations and the like who wouldn't want their stuff visible to potential competitors.

    2. And then there are the privacy laws. Woe betide the municipal office that inadvertently bins someone's signature or tax arrears.

    3. Exactly, I am scrupulous when it comes to my clients and their confidence in me and their privacy plus some other organizations I have financial control over. The shredder is my bestie.

  7. Thanks for the reminder that I have a huge pile of stuff to be shredded. I think I’ll pass on pumping my organ for Jesus though!

Snorting at the last one. It may go some way to explaining some less than stellar performances by various church leaders...

    1. I just checked spam and no EC it wasn't there. I admit to now checking spam as often as I should and just released a few more from spam jail. Have no idea why frequent commenters are deemed suddenly spam. And yes church leaders always seem to be involved in highly unsavoury and criminal sexual behaviours.

  10. That owl - Thank you! ... It's the perfect antidote to those moronic looking organ pumpers. I cannot fathom why they would choose this photo for a cover.
