Not much to produce here this week. It has been a wet, windy one apart from today where I had planned to go out but my body went on strike, particularly one leg which woke me up at 6 and now it's 10.30 and I'm so short on sleep this could be a deranged post. Push on if you dare.
I found enormous comfort in this needlepoint image this week. It really speaks to me for the soothing effect of knitting.
I am so sorry that your body is being treacherous again. Which does my mind in as well.
ReplyDeleteAnother delightful selection - and thank you for the smiles.
Thanks so much EC. I have your fridge magnet in hand and one of my cards so off it will go to you tomorrow.

Better to listen to your body and rest even if plans get derailed. I absolutely agree with the knitting picture . It's my go-to relaxation.
ReplyDeleteWonderful to have somthing like this to fall back on when times get a little uncertain and we seem to be swamped with it all at the moment.

I wonder if dogs enjoy having their collars removed.
ReplyDeleteMy 16 year old great niece has taken up knitting and finds it very relaxing.
I would take the collars off my dogs at times and I loved how they shook their heads in relief. A collar can't be that comfortable along with a bra or a belt. Lovely to hear about your niece, my niece and grandniece love knitting too.

My leg, too. Keeps throwing me for a loop. I enjoyed your post and especially related to the last cartoon.
ReplyDeleteOur bloody legs then. Worst day for me was yesterday, hanging on to things and then today I wake up and bingo, the pain was gone. So mysterious and a little frightening TBH.

My back throws me for a loop now and again, I must remember to not pick up heavy things. I liek the idea of using coloured pencils for sketching out knitting patterns. Not that I would do that, I barely knit at all these days and have never designed a pattern in my life! Knitting is not soothing for me, I get my soothing by washing up dishes and making them all sparkling clean. I hope your leg is okay soon.
ReplyDeleteWe could trade places for a day River, you do my dishes and I will knit you a pair of socks. I hate dishes. Miss my dishwashers so much and none will fit into this apartment. I grudgingly do them at the end of every day.

Better tell that body of yours to behave and keep causing you problems. Not that it will do any good but venting can be therapeutic! Send me your address and I will send you a card.
ReplyDeleteThanks David. email me at wisewebwomanatgmaildotcom and I will send you my addie.

I hope you're feeling better by now and that sleeping is better, that makes a world of difference. And thank you for the animal funnies, just great and I've shared with friends with a similar regard for our four-footed companions.
ReplyDeleteYes,thank you Marge, much better day today. I miss my four footers and hoping our new building owners allow us small pets.

The needlepoint is just cute!
ReplyDeleteI'm wearing a sports bra today and it's not making me want to rip it off. It isn't so easy to put on though
I love sports bras but agree on putting them on but the comfort level is worth it. I can't believe I once used to wear those wiry pushups that were so excruciating. What were we thinking?

Hope you are having a better week. Ugh, those wires!
ReplyDeleteMuch better week, thanks, the uncertainty of health issues drives me a little crazy.

Sister Felicity Immaculata reminds me of the Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence, still going strong after their start in 1979. Nice to see some people poking fun at religious nonsense. I hope your leg behaves itself a bit better for the next few days.
ReplyDeleteIt evaporated overnight. No idea. Elder leg rebellion maybe. I love poking fun at religion, when you stand back from it, it has the appearance of insanity on full display.

Mary, I love this Sunday Miscellany - it reminds me of Ronni's Interesting Stuff from her Time Goes By blog, now sadly a thing of the past.
ReplyDeleteAs for universal health bills?
Here in the UK in the last month I've had jabs for flu, covid and shingles, an annual over 75 health review, been prescribed vitamin D tablets as a result of two blood tests that were given based on my brother's health history, and had a 24 hour ECG monitor also carried out "just to be sure, given what you've told me about your brother's heart condition"
Did I pay a penny? Did I heck.
Any visitor to the UK soon realises that the thing we revere more than anything else isn't the monarchy, its our national health service.
Since Covid I've noticed more than once in a supermarket queue a person sporting the NHS logo on their work clothes gets moved to the head of the queue by the people in it.
I feel honoured being compared to Ronni, YS. I miss her still. I never take our universal health care for granted. It should be a given in all countries of the world. I love that the NHS logo workers are moved to the head of the queue. As they should be. Our lives are in their capable hands and need much more of our respect. I have all sorts of medical tests/evaluations over the next few weeks and my pocket isn't touched. Hurray for not taking it all for granted.

You are so fortunate to have NHS. Today is National Cat Day here so your photo and cartoons are appropriate too. xo
ReplyDeleteThanks, e. I believe universal health care is a right and not a luxury, like water and fire service, etc.

Late to the party. My own body has decided that half a day of careful optimism -- aka. I feel a bit better now, maybe tomorrow ... is enough to throw something new at me.
ReplyDeleteI so hope your body parts behave from now, and I join the Hooray for tax paid National Health Care, which we have here too.
