Five Loves

I love when I can open my back door and front door and let the ocean breezes sail through my house.

I love when the phone goes and it is somebody that wants NOTHING from me.

I love the anticipation of guests coming here, the prepping of the bedroom, the nice towels laid just so, the good soaps, the small little gifts they'd enjoy like a good book, their favourite chocolate, lotion, reading light set on a good angle, offer of my dog for their feet at night in bed (Ansa will put them to sleep and then seek me).

I love my indigo days here, the breathtakingness of them.

I love stroking a new book before I open it, knowing there is another world I will enjoy within, especially if it is recommended or sent by a friend (thanks Dianne!)

  1. sounds so wonderful...i long to live by the sea. Don't think it's in the cards, but hoping to make some trips to the Bay of Fundy with my Dad and Brother when they visit from Germany

  2. I would love to live by the sea, in winter and summer. I open all windows every chance I get.

    The baby blanket looks gorgeous.

  3. Oooh! Your 'indigo days' WWW! that'd be a lovely title for a book/story!

Five Loves would be a good "meme" thingie too - they seem to have faded out of bloggy fashion now though.
I tried to come up with 5 Loves, off the top of my head:

    1. I love planning a road trip, researching online, routes, towns motels etc.

    2. I love motels, breakfasts in rural diners, and exploring tiny towns.

    3. I love the Fall here, its crisp mornings and evenings with lukewarm, clear bug-less days.

    4. I love any movie when the cast includes one or more of: Sam Elliott, David Strathairn, Paul Giamatti, James Spader, Tommy Lee Jones. ;-)

    5. I love finding coincidences.

I love the Bay of Fundy and its extraodinary tides and the way the birds go backwards!!
YOu never know about that ocean, I always felt it was too unrealistic a dream and look what happened!

Thanks, yes Indigo Days sounds like a great title!

I love all your 'loves' apart from James Spader. I adore Timothy Spall too, everything he is in.

Road trips I particularly relish and strange motel rooms and weird restaurants almost like movie sets.

You and I would have no trouble getting along, my dear!

  8. You sound the perfect hostess and people must just love coming to stay.
I also love opening a fresh book..... but a part of me feels quite sad when I close a book that I really enjoyed. Almost a sense of loss!

  9. I, too, live by the sea and love it. But as for anticipating guests arriving, it's the opposite of love. I always think -- I'll never do this again, I'm too old to have parties, everything will go wrong -- and more such hand wringing. Then the guests come and everything is fine. What I love is after they go and Jerry says: That was a good party, Sweetie and the food was good.

  10. I don't stroke a book but I love to savour its pristine newness before I get my grubby fingers all over it. I usually read a book so delicately you would hardly know I'd touched it.

Oh I'm so far from perfect but I try to anticipate a little. Like special foods, or breakfast stuff. Always comfy beds though :)

Yes I hate putting down a book I've loved. But there are so many others!!

I like to think I don't leave too many marks on a book either, Nick. I never dogear and am appalled when others do, I keep bookmarks everywhere!!

  14. Oh, my unwanted visitor seems to have targeted you as well. I've had to reinstate the dreaded word check now the spam level is soaring.
