Remiss

re·miss

/rəˈmis/

Not to say I haven't been writing.

I have.

And designing and knitting too. And reading. And conversing. And playing Lexulous on line.

And storm watching. We were all worked about that, my town and I. But those forecasters and Environment Canada got it so very, very wrong. As they often do. There's something about meteorologists' brains and the sea and radar patterns that doen't mix well. Grandgirl cancelled her flight tonight as a result, so now she arrives tomorrow.

The bay is frozen, it is quite startling in its beauty. It's cold. But the fire is cosy. Some people lose their minds in weather such as this. I'm delighted with it. More me-time, no outside pressures apart from irritating phone-calls with demands which I'm ignoring for today.

I do miss my old girl, Ansa, though. Not the old and tired Ansa, the lively, funny one.

  1. Oh so happy to see she survives!. (What is Lexulous?)

Yes, marine and aviation forecasts are much better than what's commonly available for the common-ly.

Now what are you designing? I have bought supplies, and will once again take up the needle arts -- lolol -- ignored lo these many decades.

I too love the isolation, and can see frozen water. I can always tell when it's snowing overnight. All the traffic is at a near halt, and what there is makes a soothing soft smoosh. Unless one is on the freeway. I hear it's bedlam.

    I'm so glad you're back.

  6. The forecasters can get it very wrong, despite all their elaborate computerised modelling and what have you. Hundreds of households were evacuated in Essex after massive storms and flooding were forecast. In the event, none of it happened and the households could have stayed put.

  11. Lovely view -- one, I, too, must admit I most appreciate, now in my elder years, observing through a window from a warm and cost room.
Lots of "threatening weather" reports here, full of cautions, mandatory evacuations in some areas but in one, at least, news reported 80% of residents chose to stay in their homes and risk mud slide flooding. They were asked to sign releases they had been alerted, declined to go. Sounds like that was about city liability precautions. When no storms here our weather forecaster meteorologists are hard pressed to create exciting weather reports for us common folk.

    1. Oh boy. I had one evacuation when a fire threatened our whole town. I was terrified but I left with sparks striking off my roof.

The brilliant fire fighters from 3 districts got it under control much to our relief.
