For the Price of.....
For the price of a beer or a fancy latte
Or a bag of cheap cookies or a cafe au lait
Or a magazine rampant with pages of ads,
Or dollar store gizmos: the latest of fads.
The main one I place right by my side,
The second one goes to the hallway outside,
The third one sits in the wee room to stay
And I ponder the wealth of my lovely bouquet.

ReplyDeleteBeautiful, WWW! Reminded me of a saying an old friend of mine, long ago, taught me: "if you have 2 loaves of bread, sell one and buy a hyacinth."
ReplyDeleteI think the idea came originally from this verse:
If of thy mortal goods thou art bereft
And of thy simple store two loaves of bread alone are left
Sell one, and with the dole,
Buy hyacinths to feed the soul.
(By, or inspired by, Sa'di)
Ahhhh, fresh flowers! I need to buy some. Planted giant zinnias in peat pots yesterday. -Kate
