My Happy Place

Interesting day.

I was at a business meeting earlier where it was discussed that a property, which is being severely mismanaged by a bunch of yahoos (my private words) needs to be taken over and run properly. And I outrageously said: "You know what? This should be taken over by a bunch of women and run successfully!" And Lard Thunderin', didn't everyone (including males) vote all in favour. I tell you in all my born days this was a first. I should mention the above yahoos are all male and elderly and adverse to any type of innovation or heaven forbid technology. I am not an ageist by a long shot, but sometimes new female blood is needed. And these females are young and energetic.

I had packed my knitting. Mainly because I'm on this mad sock-knitting kick so decided after the meeting I would head off to my happy place, my beach, as the day was glorious.

So here it is in all its glory:

And here's my knitting bag and another sock on the go:

And yes, Gigi, I'm wearing my socks:

Sunshine on my feet as winter nudges her way onto our bones.

  5. Your feet look wonderfully cosy in those socks. I'd love to see the new pair when the are finished. The beach looks peaceful, too cold now for many visitors?

    1. The cold really started up today River, closed all the windows. It was lovely there until my fingers got too cold to knit LOL
You'll definitely see the new pair but after that I'll have to keep them to myself or you'll all fall asleep!

  7. Nothing better in all the world is cosy warm toes. I loathe cold feet!

What I like about those gorgeous looking bright coloured socks is the fact the colours have changed at the same point. Did you 'lose' much wool at the beginning to get that to happen.?

    1. It was one of those "new" type yarn skeins where you there's a white thread to let you know where to start and finish. I am amazed at how sock knitting has changed from downright boring to exciting. The colours are stunning. And the comfort incredible.

  8. Trying to think of something negative to say about women managing, but I can't. I've rather reversed my opinion of your socks. They look tres cool, and how good is your beach.

    1. Thank you Andrew. You'd have to meet that crusty old boys network and roll your eyes. They've allowed membership to decline from 250 to 38 and will not use the internet for starters. I could go on.

      Thanks for the sock support!!

  9. Very amusing that there was unanimous support for the house being taken over by women! But is there any immediate way of ousting the men from their mismanaged property?

    1. It will have to be subtle but in other areas unrelated women here have been really forceful and we had a private discussion on raising our voices and using curse words and honestly it works. Shouting "listen!" over and over also works. I remember doing that in my municipal politics days. Just yelling eff right off to a crowd of them one time and the appalled silence allowed me to state my case. I wish I'd had the guts to do that in my 30s.

  10. I wish that more such endorsements are received! I am a great believer of the fact that women make better managers than men. I have seen many of women running very difficult homes successfully to come to that conclusion.

  12. Hey, those socks match, color for color. Awesome! And congratulations on being the one to give females power in your group.

  13. I'm still using the wonderful dish cloth you sent me. Perhaps, if you get too carried away, a win-a-pair-of-socks drawing should be in order! As for women in charge, yes please, and the sooner the better.

  14. I'm increasingly of the opinion that the world would be vastly improved if women ran it.
