This iron tho!
It has me off the painkillers. I had a brief rotten reaction to the codeine where it heightened my symptoms.
I am astonished at how forgiving the body is when corrections to deficiencies are made.
I'm not exactly planning a road race quite yet (my brain does this - it gallops ahead - the act of slowing down has been very difficult for me) but I can walk across the room without taking a break.
I finally looked up the effects of chronic anaemia on the body and I completely fit the bill. I am surprised I could climb out of bed - albeit with some difficulty. I believe this downswing has been going on for a year, worsening just about every month and all my case doctors believing "another" doctor was taking care of it. I didn't mention my episodes of periodic blindness which were frightening, now also gone. Every afternoon for about 15 minutes. And putting my head down to "rest my neck". All iron deficiency.
I have not heard from any specialist in the meantime to schedule the tests. We had a few more cases of Covid 19 hospitalized. We are a tiny province and almost know each case personally or have one degree of separation from it. Daughter knows of a whole family down with it. Niece has had to contend with her whole family being exposed through schools - thankfully all negative.
In other news, I had to help a neighbour/friend out of a massive scam. The scammer emptied her pitiful bank account. A company based in Washington, DC. She didn't bother even with a basic Google on them which listed hundreds. The dollar signs of untold riches circled in her eyeballs. She only had to manage a website for Amazon. Believe me when I say that she can barely turn on her own computer. Absolutely no skill sets whatsoever.
Anyway long story short (and it did take a lot of my time, trust me) I reviewed the 6 page contract and found the tiny clause of "cancellation within 3 days" and immediately got a strong email out to them cancelling herewith and forthwith and witnessed and she got her money back.
So yes, she was crying in gratitude and shamed and humiliated too.
No such thing as a free lunch. Ever. I am a born cynic of these "opportunities" as in my past career I counselled many such victims of pyramid schemes, investment goldmines, etc.
Thanks for all your wonderful and heartwarming wishes and the prayers from those who pray.
I will continue upward I hope.
One hour at a time.
The news on your health sounds great. Thanks for helping with the scam - we may all need help someday.
ReplyDeleteGlad your health has improved a bit. Having to take a break while walking across the room must be most disheartening.
ReplyDeleteI'm really surprised so many people fall for these shocking scams. So much has been written about them, and people warned time and again not to divulge personal bank details over the phone, yet people go on falling for these smooth-talking crooks.
I am thrilled at the uptick with your health. About bloody time too.
ReplyDeleteThank you for helping the neighbour hit with a scam. I strongly suspect most go undetected because the victims feel shame...
I'm happy to hear your health is doing better. Yes, amazing once you get the right treatment, the body really appreciates it.
ReplyDeleteAnd thank you so much for catching that cruel scam and fixing it so your friend only learned not to be taken, rather than learning how to lose her hard earned savings. It's the people with not much experience on the computer who don't catch on quickly that this is an old scam, which is why it's so cruel.
It's good to hear you are feeling much better. Billions of dollars around the world must be scammed. I am truly surprised the person received their money back.
ReplyDeleteSo glad to hear this! Onward and upward indeed!
ReplyDeleteGreat to hear you’re feeling much better - not so great news for your friend.....which thankfully you managed to reverse for her.
ReplyDeleteGood that you have an answer to help in finding a solution to your tiredness and possibly other things.
ReplyDeleteAnd if it sounds too good to be true, it probably isn't. Not just regarding money! But then I am a skeptic for sure. Having been in computers and tech stuff a long time, I am often asked about what look to me like scams and that is often my answer.
I am so, so, so happy to hear that iron has brought you upright again. I'm also pleased to hear you tolerate the pills well. Must be the anemia in you that takes the iron so gladly. I was just a teney weney bit anemic once and the doc prescribed iron and as I recall, it was not good. I hope you carry on descamming your friends.
ReplyDeleteWonderful wonderful!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteWith all the tests you've had, I imagine there were blood tests too, HOW did no-one pick up on this extreme iron deficiency? Shame on all of them!
ReplyDeleteI am so very glad you discovered your neighbour had been frauded and helped get her money back. Thank you for that. I get scammy emails telling me I have had thousands of $$$ added to my bitcoin account, ha ha, I don't have one of those, I say and mark it as spam and delete it.
Great news that you are on the mend with supplements. Greater news about the help you gave to the neighbour. You will be surprised at the number of gullible people who should know better falling for such tricks here too.
ReplyDeleteGood news all around. It's amazing what lack of iron, or vitamins can do to us! I hope for continuing improvement and a doctor-sleuth to find the real reason! And wonderful that you had energy and time to help your friend in need. I'll continue to send good thought and prayers your way.
ReplyDeleteIt's wonderful to hear that the iron is helping. I bet you're anxious to get the other tests out of the way. I was hospitalized for the first time with anemia when I was ten months old, and it's plagued me ever since, but not to the degree yours hit you. However, it once almost cancelled a needed surgery.
ReplyDeleteThank you on behalf of the human community for helping your friend or neighbor. People who don't think they'll fall prey to scams do. My father-in-law got one of those letters importuning him to contribute a "small" amount as he had won millions on the lottery, but he was a trusting person. I don't remember the reason they gave for contributing the money. He lived hand to mouth, and it was all his two sons could do to stop him from giving over what amounted to a month's worth of grocery money for him. And, if he'd gone through with it, it would have been more. My mother-in-law, a skeptical person, was contributing big amounts to PTL until the fraud fell apart when Baker was arrested. And just a few days ago, I walked into the kitchen and heard my husband say, "I guess. $50, you're suggesting?" The man is a retired attorney, known for his toughness when dealing with depositions, etc. I asked him whom he was talking to, and it was the ubiquitous "police benefit." I stopped him right there and told him that if he wanted to contribute to an organization to benefit police to go, to Charity Navigator or a similar research site and research them. Now he'll be prey to even more calls.
Good news on the iron doing the trick.
ReplyDeleteI am glad that the iron pills have helped. Could the internal bleeding be due to aspirin, ibuprofen, naproxen, or other pain meds? Overuse could lead to it. Anyway, take care and God bless. Yes, Virginia, there is a God.
ReplyDeleteI am so glad the solution, or at least part of the solution, was so simple! The scams are getting more and more sophisticated, it's getting harder to discern the true from the not-true. I recently received a scam call that scared me and I almost responded to it except that I was busy doing something else at the time. Found out later that it was a scam. I hope you keep up the health progress!
ReplyDeleteCould the fix be that simple!?! Next time I get a checkup, I'll be requesting that my iron level is checked. So glad you're feeling better already. -Kate
ReplyDeleteGeez, such an oversight for such a correctable problem...I am so sorry you had to go through this. Sending hugs.
ReplyDeleteA very sensible elderly neighbour was waiting for a phone all from her carer so answered a fraudulent call, telling her that her internet would be cut within the hour if she did not act immediately. They got as far as asking for her bank details before she realised what was going on and ended the call. But it shook her up for hours.
ReplyDeleteI’m just delighted you’re feeling better by the way Mary. x
ReplyDeleteSooooooo glad to read this update. Continue to take care of yourself. Sending all good thoughts your way~
ReplyDeleteTHREE CHEERS ! ! ! so glad you are feeling much better and at long last know what it was that had such an impact on your health. snowing here in Maine. you've made my day! Stay well and reasonably sane. Hugs.
ReplyDeleteThis is wonderful news! I'm happy to hear you are doing so much better and isn't it amazing (like you say) how forgiving the body can be when needed corrections are made. And so often how quickly.
ReplyDeleteThose scam calls are indeed scary, I've had several obvious ones and one time a young voice said he was my grandson (didn't sound at all like my grandson!) and needed money. He must have realized I wasn't too concerned since he abruptly hung up. But it makes one stop and think how easy it would be to fall for some of their tricks.
Marge
Thank you all so much for being as heartened as I was but I've slid backwards as you can see from today's post. My elation was so short lived and I am quite down.

I read the last post and had to skip ahead to this one to see if you were doing better. I'm so glad the iron is helping!
ReplyDeleteOh, it's so hard to watch people be scammed. I've had a few patients who walked right into things even with me strongly advising them not to.
