I managed to squeeze in an ocean restoration trip during the week. I was delighted to see a drummer practicing his craft at the shore. And even more delighted to find I could walk (with George, my cane, just to be safe) down to the waves and marvel at how life has changed for me.

I finally had the energy to walk in the glorious back garden of my building and snap these two shots of the tenderness and long shadows of autumn.

A lunch snap one day. Sour dough bread with gorgonzola cheese. Who else likes weird cheeses?

And finally, this made me laugh so hard - for all you cat lovers out there.

  2. So very happy for you that your health has improved and you are able to engage with the world again! The beach photo is marvellous, must have been very invigorating. I’m sure cats have their endearing points, but perhaps winter sports are not among them, lol.

    1. Well I think we each have a bias Annie about dogs but I have harboured many cats over the years too. Thanks for your good wishes.

  3. Excellent! I love your shots of the seashore and grounds, but being a foodie, I love that shot of your food. I am not an animal person at all, so the cartoon is weird. Haha.

  4. Hooray for ocean restorative views (which even translate through the screen). A bigger hooray for being able to actually walk down to the water, and around your home.
The cartoon is close to the mark. I have often said that the collective noun for cats should be a chaos...

    1. OMG I love that collective noun. Chaos for sure. I shared with a distressed friend today (she had to return two cats to the shelter) how I had to give up one of mine who was tortured by my bully cat, Big Walter. Luckily the ex took her as we had her for years.

  5. That's a lovely back garden by your building. Glad you were able to walk around it and properly appreciate it.

I also like unusual cheeses. I love stilton and brie, and I've tried quite a few obscure Irish cheeses.

Stilton and Brie are hot favourites too.

    1. French cheeses are right up there too. I loved wandering through Alex's cheese shop in Toronto. Spoiled for choice there.

  7. The cartoon is funny. Nothing wrong with bread and cheese for lunch. Gorgonzola used to be popular here, but I never hear of it now.
Nothing like a walk at a beach to clear your head. Very restorative indeed.

    1. Yes, beach walking is hard to beat. Better than any anti-depressant.

  8. That second picture of the back garden is just perfect! As for cats pulling a sled, not so much.

    1. Thank you, Joanne. I remember leashing one my cats once and was horrified when he tried to hang himself. I got the message.

Not a fan of weird cheeses.
I'm so glad you got to walk down to the waves and around that pretty yard.

  11. When you talk of wanting to be by the ocean it always brings Masefield’s Sea Fever to mind. Thank you to whoever gives you the gift of a ‘trip to the seaside’ because we know how much it means to you.
I’m a soft cheese lover rather than hard but never blue (smelly stuff yuk)

    1. Well, it's only a few minutes away Cathy so I actually drive myself which is lovely. I am always full of gratitude and contentment there.
I take soft cheese in small doses but admit to a fondness for goat cheese.

  12. I had sourdough bread with a local cottage cheese called Topli Na Paneer about which, I have also blogged. I like to try weird things as long as they are vegetarian.

  13. I used to eat a lot of interesting cheese, but so much of late - maybe I need to order some again.
I'm new here via Ramana's blog, but will read back a few post to "meet you" ... I'm a bit slack with this platform...

  14. That sounds wonderful. I like some strongly flavored cheeses, like brie, but not blue cheeses.
