Sunday Selections

Joining others in this Sunday Selection mix of photo-dumps.

Elephant's Child

From The Highrise

Drifting through Life

And maybe more.

Grandmother Moon staring in at me through the mist the other night.

A fishing community, Twillingate a few weeks ago.

One of those views from the side of the road, Gambo, Newfoundland.

I take far too many photos of the beautiful city I live in, St John's Newfoundland.

St. John's from the fabulous restaurant "The Rooms" above the harbour.

  1. There's that gorgeous sky again. You do live in a beautiful part of the world and that helps sometimes just to look out the window and enjoy. We here in the SE United States are recovering from Hurricane Helene but where I am escaped this one. Lots of others did not though. And lots of them live in climate change denier states. All the evidence says otherwise.

    1. Marge the films and videos are awful, particularly the drone shots showing the devastation and losses both of life and livelihood. And still they deny CC.
I have two close friends living down there and one is still in a shelter, the other, whose home is on stilts, said the ocean hit her upper deck.

  3. Lovely scenes, with a cruise ship in the harbour. Twillingate just sounds so English. More photos in the future would be nice.

    1. Actually Twillingate comes from the French Toulinguet which was named from the village in Brittany where the fishers who settled in the region were from.

    1. I love the size and the art scene and of course the constantly changing views of the harbour, a busy spot. We're also getting an influx of emigrants/refugees which enhances the local food scene enormously.

  5. Stumbled upon your blog today while checking out an old bloglist that used to be quite active. Refreshing to see another blogger from NL still keeping the posts going! I don't think there are many of us.

    1. Thanks Mandy, not too many of us blogging - and so many have passed. I miss them all. It's an old fashioned thing perhaps in the world of Insta and TikTok and X.

  8. You sure do live in a beauiful city, not a shot too many. The moon has been great for pics these last weeks - I've been trying my hand as well, but yours is way better.

  10. Twillingate looks idyllic, but I suspect that it is pretty bleak in the winter.
Newfoundland and Labrador still remain the only province I have not visited. I must get serious about rectifying that.
