Coffee

I love coffee. All kinds of coffee except weak and instant.

I had to leave my enormous machine behind in my house when I sold it. It was far too big for my apartment. I remember celebrating its purchase way back in the day. A machine that could brew coffee anyway you liked it. But after 10 years of daily use it owed me nothing. And it still works like a charm.

I bought a small coffee maker when I moved here and it is quite splendid. But I missed my espresso, my after dinner decaff espresso.

I went on the hunt for something tidy and beautiful and well, Italian.

And thanks to K-pods (a universal paean to bad coffee everywhere, not to mention the environmental impact) I found this fabulous little beauty for a song. Very few, I gather, want to go to the trouble of real brew anymore. The polished wood on the handle and lid is art in itself but the espresso this baby disgorges is absolute bliss.

Me is happy.

  1. That does look beautiful. Is that a stove top coffee maker or an electric one? I have one that is of full aluminium for stove top coffee making which looks cheap in comparison to this. https://www.amazon.com/Primula-12-Cup-Aluminum-Stovetop-Espresso/dp/B00384IVQ0

    1. Stovetop Ramana. I had never seen one so beautifully made before and the price was ridiculously cheap. Perfect espresso.

  3. Terry makes the coffee here...strong regular coffee in the morning in a Krups coffeemaker; decaf espresso in the evening with a pour-over. I only drink coffee when it's really good, which means seldom away from home.

    1. Oh boy, Kate, I think you're in for a treat. A special treat is a splodge of real whipped cream on top. So you sip the espresso thru the cream.

    1. The only one I can purchase here is Starbucks Decaff espresso. With the onset of Kcups, merchants who would carry
other brands discontinued. :( Online purchasing is very expensive with the shipping costs added. Do you have a brand?

  6. I do admire the wooden handle on your coffee maker WWW - very arty!
I'm a one cup a day person, and husband can't have any for health reasons, so I rely on Starbucks Instant Colombian to wake me up first thing. Yeah - I know I'm a Philistine. ;-)

    1. As long as you get your personal bang for your buck T, who's to criticise? My nephew had an instant espresso in Ireland that impressed me so much he bought me a can of my own :)

  7. I'm with you on the K-cups. I like the idea and the tidiness of them but can't bring myself to indulge because of the waste -- the container and each cup contains a ridiculous amount (overkill!) of coffee. Kim in PA
