Photo of the Week
Of all the photos in all the magazines in all the world of President Obama and Michelle Obama touring Europe, this is the one that most shows his class, his grace, his kindness and his spontaneity. It brings a lump to my throat.
See many more at the German magazine, Stern, with some inadvertently funny English translations.

A warm hearted human at last in the White House!
ReplyDeleteI view him as clearing the toxic sludge of the prior appalling regime, GM!

Jenny and I were both impressed with his acknowledgement of the ordinary bloke instead of just sweeping inside imperiously like all the others. But the other thing that astonished us was the non-stop emphasis on Michelle's clothes rather what she was actually doing. Excuse me, did anyone notice the brilliant brain ticking away in there?
ReplyDeleteAnd you know that Gordon Brown then completely blanked the policeman?

ReplyDeleteI know: this clothes thing drives me crazy, are the majority of us this shallow?
People don't want to know that she was her husband's mentor, back in the day when they practised law. she is a brilliant woman.

Jo: Underlings are completely invisible to Gordon Brown, he can't relate to the great unwashed and never will.

What is amazing is that we make such a big deal out of the fact that a man like Obama has such a humane approach to people. Was anyone expecting anything else? AS to the superficial, get your noses out of the rags and start paying attention to Michelle Obama the human being. Surely there are better issues to discuss than her clothes, grow up, people.
ReplyDeleteI'm so proud of Obama.
ReplyDeleteIrene:
ReplyDeleteit says a lot about how those in power treat their perceived lessers, doesn't it?
Brown ignoring the outstretched hand of the same policeman I imagine would be the same reaction as other pols.

I hadn't seen that one before, WWW. Love it!
ReplyDeleteAstrologically (if I may) the prez has enough Leo (his Sun) to be confident and talented and creative enough to be Leader of the USA, but enough humanity (from his Aquarius rising) to shake a Bobby's hand.
:-)
We are very lucky, and I am very thankful, and if he makes mis-steps, or downright errors - I forgive him in advance. Pass the cool-aid!! ;-)

ReplyDeleteIt's such a huge contrast to the former ****, if nothing else, he brings light to the job, light, yes, I searched for the perfect word.
Whereas before there was a cloying darkness.

Tis nice to see a President kind to those around him. Time will tell the ramifications of his policy actions.
ReplyDeleteTo date: he has a long way to go before being considered an equal to RR. Oops, the telepromter broke down. That should have read, considered on an equal. Let me be perfectly clear..
If the only thing nice you can say about someone "is that she dresses well" then let that be the only thing you say.

ReplyDeleteYou're a fan of Mr. Reagan, I gather?
I think Mr. Obama will plough his own course, take his own risks, and hopefully bring peace and prosperity to all.
Fingers crossed.

He's got style and grace along with brains and compassion. So does Michelle. Have you seen the photos of her planting veggies in the White House garden? And she isn't wearing make-up? She hasn't fixed her hair for the cameras? I think this amazing woman scares the crap out of the people who insist on focusing on her clothes.
ReplyDeleteLove this photo, Mary. Thank you.
