Outside Looking In
Of all the slaps
Slung by love
None hurts so much
As a shove
Out to the blizzard
Deep with snow
Shivered by the
Sudden blow.
Baffled, hurting,
Cast aside,
Puzzled, frightened
Holding tight
To mem'ries of
Precious years
Which slowly melt
Away to tears.

Very, very moving.
ReplyDeleteIt makes me wonder what happened to you. I'd like to have an intimate chat. What made the memories melt to tears?
ReplyDeleteSad, sad....
ReplyDeleteAs you've tagged your sweet sad poem "family" as well as "rejection", I'll read it as, perhaps, a parent disowning an offspring rather than one spouse rejecting their partner. Has to be heart-breaking, and hard to live with - in both directions.
I like the links between melting snow and tears, and snow and rejection. A very poignant poem.
ReplyDeleteHappy to know that you are surviving the blizzard.
ReplyDeleteI like your poem.
Our grandmothers' weep in their graves. (Did I use that ' correctly? :)
