All is well. I kicked another addiction along this route too. Diet pop(soda). I had this thing for diet lemonade. The sparkling kind. It was down to Daughter hauling in 12 large bottles at a time here. I took a serious look at this. I was always afraid of running out of the stuff. First sign of trouble.
I didn't mention this before, but I'm fairly impressed with this. Kicking these habits to the curb is beneficial to me. I feel it in my body and my outlook. I'm the one who never bought cigarettes by the pack. I always had 3 cartons on the go, one in the office, one in my home, one in car. I never ran out. And that was kicked 33 years ago now. Stockpiler, that's me.
Not bragging at all. I don't take it for granted. Slippage can happen.
I was looking at these little guys on my windowsill today. Little memories of trips to beaches and up north.
You have been doing really, really well. And I love that you are triumphing.
ReplyDeleteThanks for those encouraging words EC, and I do hope you are feeling better too, these setbacks with pain can have us very down.

I think my only addiction is to routines. I do enjoy my routines around breakfast, around reading, around shopping, around my daily walks. A total upheaval in my life would be hard to adjust to.
ReplyDeleteI hear you Nick. My morning routines are really important to me, I hate when others make morning plans but I never mention it.

Ohh, good for you. There's still hope for all us old, grumpy crones. Thanks you!
ReplyDeleteOh you're welcome Charlotte. We are absolutely never too old to change.

When I was young a drank more than a litre of Coke a day. I gave the vice up but I wish I could give my other vices up.
ReplyDeleteIt's tough Andrew but I guess it starts with wanting to give them up and then the 3 week process. It ain't easy when stuff that is bad for us is calling our name.

Would you rate reading and binge watching TV as addictions too? I think my addiction now is WhatsApp and Twitter. I am seriously considering switching to a non smart phone.
ReplyDeleteWhat I hate most about the "binge" Ramana is the fact I can't knit while I do it, which I used to be able to do. I find dialogue at times just about indiscernible and I don't believe I'm going deaf. Actors mumble a lot or use baffling slang. So I usually have the CC going and can't knit at the same time.
DeleteReading I would never classify as an addiction. But others might.

Lucky for me I never tried cigarettes even though both my parents smoked.
ReplyDeleteMum looks like my kind of series, thanks for the referral, I hadn't heard of it.
It's sweet and hysterically funny, Jackie. Vry well written. And I adore Lesley Manville anyway.

You are doing very well. I'm making headway in my attempts to eat less chocolate, by now it's the only thing left that I really need to cut back on. I haven't had a cup of coffee since last March, since that is where I always used the most sugar, three teaspoons per cup at three or four cups per day, that's a lot of sugar I no longer have in me.
ReplyDeleteI take my teas and coffees without sugar or sweetener. I just like to plough into a tub of ice cream or a tin of good Belgian chocolate biscuits or an entire baguette. No brakes.

No icecream here since last summer. I really miss it, but know that I will eat too much once I start.
ReplyDeleteI loved MUM. Hope we get a new season soon.
