Day 6

So far so good - ain't hot tea the best tho? Kills the cravings. Already my BP is down a bit and so's my blood sugar. And my outlook is so much better.

The girls are cheerful today smiling out at the semi-sunny day. Yet no snow. We threw it elsewhere around the planet.

If anyone can tell me what this baby is I'd be delighted. Daughter bought it for me. I've never seen anything like it.

Elsewhere, Bell Aliant kept me on the phone a whole hour today as I tried to sort out what they've done to my internet service which has deteriorated in the last few weeks not allowing much of an upload which prevents me from participating in Zoom meetings. Nothing was resolved. Every time I get on the phone with them I feel they are BSing me. And they get quite confrontational insisting it is somehow my fault, and referring to a non-existent contract specifying low upload speed. Yeah, sure, I signed up for dismal service. So finally they agreed to a technician - physically - coming here this afternoon to "fix" it. I know what they've done, the baron thieves, they are completely over-subscribed and the pandemic and working at home has throttled the system. And I do track where my service is coming from which varies across townships around the province. Highly unstable.

And why on earth doesn't blogger have spellcheck anymore? Another "improvement"?

You'd think I was a long stream of misery after this post, but no, I'm quite happy. Another day in the life of......

  1. I think spelcheck still works. "spelcheck" is underlined in red, and right clicking advises "spellcheck".
I do hope your internet technician is of value.

  2. Thank you for the snow, it fell here yesterday. The crocusses are coming along fine.
Out net is the same now, everybody working at home are taxing those old cables. Boo for internet people not showing up. Our connexion is as lousy as yours, but nice, savvy and helpful people show up and solve our problems - if possible - whenever we call.
My spell-checker still works too in Blogger.

    1. I went back in there Charlotte and can't find the button if there is one.
Yes, never heard from Bell today either. They absolutely know how bad this overcharged system is. Very frustrating.

  3. My spellcheck is still there, I ignore it because I use English spelling not American. I think your mystery plant could be from the Kalanchoe family.

    1. Oh thanks River, there was no name on the plant. I've never seen one before.

Bah me on spellcheck, I could be stooopid.

  4. What? No spell checker? Mine is still working. While spell checker has made my spelling worse, I find it very useful. Bell is a big company and you should expect the best from them. The fault won't be at your end.

    1. Oh absolutely Andrew, they are appalling to deal with here. Very little competition. I may move away from them once I check the other providers out.

  5. I don't have spellcheck in Word any more either, which really bothers me.

I find I most enjoy tea in the evening. But I'm a coffee person in the mornings.

  6. To the spell check dilemma - sorted. Blogger doesn't have spellcheck in HTML mode. One has to use "compose".

    1. That explains it, I always use 'compose' since I never learned HTML.

  7. Our building has Bell, we have no choice. Didn't have any complaints until Last spring, like you said, everyone is working at home and I can't get much of a signal in the bedroom. Thinking of buying a booster online ($50) as opposed to giving Bell $10 a month for one.
Blogger decided I couldn't spell naive correctly (also here) and wants to replace it with native.

    1. I'll check out the booster and it may boost my upload speed. That "fix" on your words could be quite funny or insulting, LOL.

  8. Recognized your plant because: I have bought one every year around Christmas holidays but never succeeded in growing them. It is a kalanchoe. Mine has orange blossoms. I discovered this year that it's a succulent - loves sunshine - doesn't bloom in winter - & requires less water than other plants. Since I finally learned about it this year's plant is thriving. I deadheaded the flowers & don't water it every week with my other plants. It's happy. P.S. I'm so glad you are doing well the start of this year. Delighted to say I am also on the upswing after last year's multiple hospital visits to tend to my BC. Hugs from the base of the mini-mountain in Maine.

    1. I didn't realize it bloomed too but I automatically cut back on the water as it didn't seem to like it. I'll keep track and see if it surprises me.

I am so happy you are on the upswing from the past year, you had it rough.

  10. Our connections have suffered during the Pandemic, too. I rarely watch television, and I'm even less inclined to watch now when everything buffers over and over. Sometimes I like to find a good movie when my eyes are too tired to read myself to sleep, though.

    1. My streaming isn't suffering, oddly enough. Just uploads to Zoom. I love falling asleep watching a film.

  11. Yes, if it's a kalanchoe it needs a lot less water than you might think.
I don't like spellcheck, nor predictive text insisting on saying things I'm not saying. It wrote insulting back there after I'd typed the third letter!
And it refuses to learn that ply is a word, always repeatedly puts play. I wonder what level of literacy goes into creating the algorithm.

    1. Good question, I know predictive test is targeted at some point in grade school level as it hates my fancy schmancy words at times.

  12. There ought to be a spellcheck option where you can turn it off and on as desired. Just about every time I type "Hapi" spellcheck wants to change it to "Hali". I don't know if you have a choice of providers, but I'm with Eastlink, they're marginally better than Bell as far as customer service goes.
